The Appeal of Goddess of Victory: NIKKE

Goddess of Victory: NIKKE offers a dynamic experience that combines action RPG gameplay with beautiful character designs and classic ‘gacha’ game progression systems that will be familiar to fans of other mobile games.

NIKKE prides itself on being free to play, easy to start and learn and offers players the ability to collect and interact with lots of unique character archetypes. If there’s a character design you like in NIKKE, you’ll have lots of chances to interact with them, and if you’re lucky on the gacha, add them to your army.

For many though, the appeal of NIKKE doesn’t end with the gameplay or characters. NIKKE also offers a rich post-apocalyptic world that is expressed through the game’s story.

People who aren’t already fans may assume that NIKKE doesn’t have much to offer in terms of lore or world-building, but in actuality, this is a key point of the game’s appeal for many players!

NIKKE itself invites players into a deep world where women are made to become fierce warriors to fight back mechanical aliens known as Raptures. This is set against a dystopian backdrop of mega-corporations and controlling governments in a desperate struggle to restore humanity. There’s an intensity to it that might be unexpected if you’ve seen some of the games' more lighthearted character-based advertising!

NIKKE Cinderella

Part of NIKKE’s uniqueness comes from how players view the game when in battle. The game places you and your team behind protective barriers, with your units crouching in front of you as they fire onto oncoming enemies. The angle is set pretty low, so you often have a clear view of the backs and butts of your Nikkes.

They are constantly adding new content to the game, and recently celebrated its 3rd Anniversary with more story elements, new characters Chime, Liberalio, and Nayuta, and even a new Surface Mode!

The Story of Goddess of Victory: NIKKE

NIKKE takes place in a post-apocalyptic setting, with an earth that has been suddenly attacked and overrun by creatures known as ‘raptures.’ Against the raptures, our only defense is the ‘Nikkes’ - women transformed into warriors by a coalition of Earth’s remaining powers - mostly mega-corporations.

Players experience the world of NIKKE from the perspective of the Commander, a nameless protagonist who lacks experience as a recent military academy graduate, forced into a position where they must command other ‘Nikke’ characters in tactical operations.

To begin with the commander’s squad, Counters, consists of only a few of the more iconic characters like Lapi and Anis, but over time, players are given the chance to recruit more characters via the game’s ‘gacha’ system.

Throughout the story, players learn of how Nikkes are treated in society and advocate for their rights, rebelling against the government and the ‘big three’ megacorporations.

As the story progresses, the Commander and their team make many different alliances and enemies as they fight against the ‘raptures.’ The story is told through visual-novel style segments in-between battles, as well as various in-game lore documents.

In the current story, the squad ‘Counters’ are defending the base of operations Eden, against an invader known only as the Queen.

Wherever you are in the NIKKE story, there’s a lot of world-building, fun character moments and even some exciting political drama. Whatever flavor of story you’re in the mood for, NIKKE might have something for you!

Rapi
When it comes to NIKKE characters, Rapi might just be considered one of the mascots. She appears on all the game's key visuals and is considered the right-hand of the commander, the player character. She's beloved by many for her stern and assertive personality on the battlefield and stylish looks!

Alice
Alice has a sweet, bubbly and imaginative personality, known for her love of fantasy and daydreams, Often appearing in bright pink outfits, Alice resonates with fans of the series who prefer a sillier more lighthearted character on the battlefield!

Privaty
Privaty puts on an apathetic front, but secretly cares deeply for her comrades. This experienced member of 'Triangle' considers Rapi to be her rival!

Scarlet
Scarlet not only has an impressive 'ronin' samurai aesthetic, but the personality of a true warrior to match!

Red Hood
Red Hood, despite her deep red intimidating appearance, is a friendly and often silly woman who loves a challenge in combat!

Goddess of Victory: NIKKE Collaborations

If you need even more reasons to get into NIKKE, they’re often coming up with them in the form of popular character based collaborations, featuring beloved characters from other iconic series and giving them the NIKKE character treatment. Beyond that, they’re also always updating the game to bring new and exciting elements.

NIKKE’s various collaborations have created a lot of buzz for the game in recent years. Just earlier in 2025, NIKKE linked with the Resident Evil/Biohazard series and inserted characters like Jill Valentine and Ada Wong to their already bustling lineup of characters.

Other iconic collaborations include their collaboration with NieR Automata, which featured the legendary character 2b from the series. Although 2b has since appeared in a lot of different media, NIKKE was amongst the first to hop on the trend of featuring her in their game.

But NIKKE has also managed some impressive collaborations that will appeal to the average otaku that even other mobile games haven’t managed to breach, such as Evangelion and Chainsaw Man. In the grand scheme of the game, there hasn’t been that many collaborations, but each one has been exciting and inventive, translating the charm of the original work into the game. We’re excited to see what comes next!

The NIKKE Fandom

The NIKKE fandom is a lively and inviting one, and they’ve got plenty of opinions on the series, its world and its characters. For a lot of people, NIKKE has a range of characters that are utterly ‘Oshi-worthy.’

In fact, like with many other popular mobile games, NIKKE runs a character popularity poll every year. It’s pretty interesting to see the results, and you can get an impression of the characters that stay in the zeitgeist.

As you can see, Scarlet has maintained popularity over the past few years. Her bold design is striking and has captivated players since the game's launch.

NIKKE Polls

But debates about which character is the best waifu aren’t all that the NIKKE fandom is known for. In general, the series lends itself well to memes and jokes that contrast with its setting.

In fact, some of these memes are so powerful that they have broken containment from the NIKKE community and started to appear elsewhere. You may have already seen this character, Doro. Doro is a meme version of the character Dorothy, originating on Korean forums. It became so popular that it was officially incorporated into the game and even got merchandise, including figures and goods.

NIKKE Merchandise

Whatever your stage of NIKKE fandom, there’s a wide range of different types of merchandise out there. If you’re a NIKKE fan that’s never considered collecting or displaying figures, it could easily become your gateway into the hobby.

Noir & Blanc

One of the good things about NIKKE is that there’s so many different characters, and these characters have appeared in a lot of different popular figure brands, including static fixed-pose figures and more posable action figures.

Maiden

NIKKE Frequently collaborates with Good Smile Company and has appeared in all of their major action figure series, including the posable chibi series Nendoroid, the non-scale posable action figure series figma and the even more posable series Hyper Body.

Nendoroid Scarlet

There’s also a wide range of fixed posed figures from Good Smile Company but also other makers like Flare and Hobby Sakura. What you get with each maker and figure differs, but NIKKE has been around long enough to appear in a variety of different scales - 1/7 scale, 1/10 scale, and even the huge 1/4 scale figures.

1/4 D: Killer Wife

Depending on what you’re looking for there’s something for you to start your figure collecting journey with a NIKKE character. We recommend the Hyper Body series figures as a good place to start, since they accurately depict the characters as they appear in the game, and the figures are highly posable so they can fit in any kind of display setting. With interchangeable parts and included accessories, they'll give you a taste of the world of NIKKE and the fun of action figures all in one set.
