We attended the Tokyo Game Show 2025! Now that E3 is a thing of the past, this event held yearly in Tokyo might take the crown for the biggest gaming event in the world! Over four days, Tokyo Game Show 2025 is currently showcasing the latest in both high-budget releases from major developers as well as upcoming indie releases from both Japan and across the globe.

Here at HobbyLink Japan, we pride ourselves on being experts on all things Hobby, so we couldn’t let one of the biggest gaming events of the year slip by without bringing you some unique news coverage in the way only we can!

Square Enix: Final Fantasy XIV Mini Figures, Plushies & More

Square Enix had a huge presence at this year’s TGS 2025, bringing a slew of information and demos for their upcoming titles, including the upcoming Dragon Quest I + II 2DHD collection, Final Fantasy Tactics The Ivalice Chronicles, the recently announced SNES-style action-rpg The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, and much more!

Of course, titles from throughout Square Enix history were also represented at their booth, and the Final Fantasy series (especially the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV) was also heavily featured in the developer’s elaborately crafted booth area. One highlight was a photo opportunity that allowed guests to climb and get a photo atop a large chocobo!

In the merchandise area of the event, a whole host of Square Enix merchandise was available, including regularly available items. Many of these newer releases were so popular that they sold out at the event, but all of them are still available to preorder right now at HLJ, like this fun set of Final Fantasy XIV Miniature Figures, which features beloved scions Alphinaud, Alisaie, Graha Tia, Thancred and Urianger in their most iconic Endwalker outfits!

But that’s not all! Other Square Enix products currently available to preorder were also showcased at the event, including the Final Fantasy XIII Adorable Arts Lightning, a cute chibi take on one of the series most unfairly maligned characters, and the Final Fantasy VII Room & Torchlight Potion, which is sure to add some fun ‘Mako’ glowing blue ambience to any dull bedroom!

Goddess of Victory NIKKE: New Merchandise Debuted at TGS 2025!

Goddess of Victory: NIKKE has really popped off a lot recently, perhaps more than ever before. Thanks to efforts like their recent Resident Evil collaboration and regular new character and figure releases, it seems impossible to escape the growing magnetic pull of this franchise, even for those who might not be typically interested in mobile games.

At various places throughout the event, we saw a wide range of upcoming character goods based on the hit mobile game Goddess of Victory: NIKKE, including these new designs from Algernon Products!

These new acrylic stands, postcards and clear files showed off the cute designs of characters like Little Mermaid, Mihara, Cinderella and Mori with dynamic artwork that really pops on all of the merchandise! Fans of the series likely won’t want to miss this new merchandise to add to their collection.

These different designs from Algernon Products are scheduled to appear for Preorder on HLJ at a later date, but for now, you can check out our current complete selection of NIKKE preorder products.

From CAPCOM: Monster Hunter Figure Builder Series!

At Capcom’s merchandise section, we spotted a few familiar products, including the Monster Hunter figures we recently featured in pre-release form on our YouTube channel, courtesy of Capcom themselves. Check out our livestream archive to see our breakdown of the pre-release ‘Creators Model’ Rathalos and Rathian, plus other Monster Hunter merchandise!

In addition, other recent preorders such as Vol.29 of the Figure Builder standard model series and the Finger Puppets Monster series were also on display, as well as a wide array of cool plushies and gachapon. Many of these offerings were or still are available on HLJ, so if you’re looking to preorder, you can do so with us.

As a big Capcom fan, I’m excited to see what the developer might showcase on stage during the event’s public days. At the time of writing, I’m waiting to check out their live announcements tomorrow!

Kojima Productions: Death Stranding 2 Kotobukiya Kits On Display & More!

Internationally beloved game developer Hideo Kojima has had a big week in the news cycle, thanks to their recent livestream event which plotted out the next steps for their studio, hot off the success of their latest release, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach. Their new announcements for horror title OD: Knock and a return to their routes with espionage action game PHYSINT have people hyped, and with good reason!

Although Kojima Productions didn’t have much of a physical presence at Tokyo Game Show this year, they did have a booth showcasing their current and future merchandise offerings for both Death Stranding 2: On The Beach and their brand as a whole.

What particularly caught my eye were the two Kotobukiya developed model kits based on Death Stranding 2. The kit of the game’s starring spaceship - the DHV Magellan - released recently, and we’ve already been hands on with it, so we can say for sure that this one is a winner for fans of the game, or even just sci-fi kits in general. We have a few left available in our warehouse if you want to build this beautifully unique ‘Deeptar Hunting Vessel’ at 1/350 scale!

In addition, the upcoming kit of the game’s Ghost Mech - also a Kotobukiya Kit - was displayed. This inspired design is a real Yoji Shinkawa mechanical design all-timer, and it looked fantastic in person. We can’t wait to dig in and build it! It’s still available to preorder on our site, too.

& Much More!

We also saw a whole bunch of other cool merchandise at the show. For example, we found lots of fun Atelier Ryza merchandise at the Koei Tecmo, Metal Gear merchandise at a few different manufacturer’s stalls, and some much more obscure stuff from lesser known franchises and titles.

But of course, the real draw for the event for many was the previews and demos of the games themselves, and we were able to experience our fair share of those, too!
