Super Illustration New Edition of the IJN Battleship Yamato is the latest collection of illustrations of the Yamato, with 200 illustrations newly drawn by Yoshiharu Okamoto, based on the discovery of new documents and unknown points revealed by underwater exploration.
The battleship Yamato sank to the bottom of the East China Sea, shrouded in mystery, but after the war its actual condition was revealed and, although only gradually, new documents were discovered and underwater exploration carried out in 1999 began to clarify some of the unknowns.
