By stacking the runners on top of one another, you can work in an organized fashion without scattering them. It allows you to stack up to eight runners, and the runners from most types of 1/144-scale kits will fit perfectly. In addition, the space between the partitions can be adjusted if you like -- the space is designed in increments of approximately one centimeter.
