Special Feature  The Environment Surrounding Taiwan

China, which has been strengthening its influence over the countries of the world, especially those in the Global South, as it gains economic power, has been expanding its maritime activities to secure resources and show off its national strength, extending its sphere of activities through the East China Sea and the South China Sea to the Pacific Ocean.

In this context, tensions over Taiwan, which is located just west of Japan, continue to mount, and despite the Chinese government's view that it is a domestic issue, it has become an unsettling factor that would surely affect Japan in the event of an emergency.

This month's issue introduces in color the air show held at the Taiwan Air Force's CCK Air Base on the occasion of the 814th Air Force Day, the summer Air Force Day, and provides photo reports on the IDF Ching-kuo, the F-16V, and other latest air force equipment.

In addition, we will also look at the current status of the Taiwanese military (ROC military) and its air power, as well as the significance of the recent series of exercises that European and other non-US countries have been conducting with the SDF.
