The Honda Civic first debuted in 1972 and is now in its 11th generation.
While the current Civic has become larger, the first generation was a compact car designed to be a step up from lightweight vehicles, measuring approximately 3.5m in length and 1.5m in width.
What made the first Civic globally famous was its ability to meet the stringent U.S. emissions regulations known as the Masukey Law with pioneering technology called CVCC (Compound Vortex Controlled Combustion), balancing environmental performance with agile driving.
This established an image in Japan as well as in the U.S. of being clever and fun to drive, leading to immense popularity, especially among young people.
Hot Wheels has chosen a custom version based on the first generation, removing the front bumper and replacing it with a chin spoiler and fog lamps, and adding overfenders to accommodate wider tires.
The details, such as the RS emblem, window frame, and front grille exclusive to Japan's sport grade, are meticulously reproduced with fine printing.
