The Cayman debuted in 2005 as a closed-body version of Porsche's open two-seater Boxster.

Hot Wheels' motif is based on the third generation Cayman (renamed 718 Cayman to be precise), which was introduced in 2016 and modified for GT4 category racing as defined by the global motorsport organisation, FIA.

The most striking feature of the 718 Cayman GT4 is that instead of the 2.5-litre turbocharged horizontally opposed four-cylinder that the standard version is equipped with, it is powered by a 4.0-litre horizontally opposed six-cylinder from its big brother, the 911 series.

It cleverly captures the features of the real car, such as the large rear wing and the ground-crawling front spoiler/diffuser.
