This is an English-language book or magazine about aircraft and/or aircraft modeling.
F4B is a biplane carrier-based fighter developed in the United States and operated by the US Navy. It entered service in 1929 and remained the primary fighter for the US Navy until the introduction of the F3F in 1936. The F4B was developed from 1928 with the aim of replacing the F2B fighter and F3B fighter-bomber then in service with the US Navy. The prototype XF4B-1 was completed in 1929 for Navy evaluation.
After the introduction of the F3F, the F4B was retired from frontline service and used as utility aircraft at land bases. However, at the outbreak of the Pacific War, more than 30 aircraft were still in service with the Navy.
Ginter Books specializes in publishing books on the history of aircraft and squadrons developed mainly after World War II. This book is recommended both as a reference for model making and as reading material.
