Description

This is an injection-plastic jet aircraft model kit.

In 1975 the 10th SR-71 (serial 窶・59窶・ to roll off the assembly line was selected to receive a new modification. This modification was the installation of an extra long tail section which housed additional sensors and cameras as well as electronic counter measures. To help with landing this extra tail section could even move up a few degrees to provide extra clearance. Although flight testing proved the extra tail section did not decrease performance, the Air Force decided against adding the big tails for the rest of the fleet. Once testing was halted SR-71 窶廝ig Tail窶・was parked out in the open and used for spare parts for years after until finally being donated to a museum.

This limited edition kit includes a new tail section made of resin.
