This is an injection-plastic jet aircraft model kit.
Adapted from Hasegawa:
About forty years ago, on September 6, 1976, a Mikoyan-25P fighter piloted by Soviet Air Force Lieutenant Viktor Belenko made a forced landing at Hakodate Airport on the island of Hokkaido in northern Japan. From a certain perspective, Belenko, on his way to intended asylum in the United Staes, illegally entered the airspace of U.S. ally Japan at the controls on an otherwise most welcome souvenir!
In the wake of Banako's defection, the Soviet government ordered the Mikoyan-Gurevitch Design Bureau to develop a new upgrade for the now compromised Mikoyan-25P with utmost haste. The resulting design, the upgraded Mikoyan-25PD, began reaching Soviet Air Force units in 1979. Mikoyan-25RBT is an electronic reconnaissance aircraft type equipped with electric intelligence equipments and Side-Looking Airborne RADAR.
When completed, this kit will measure about 315mm long with a wing span of about 189mm.
