The second F-15J Eagle Aggressor from Platz is the popular 906 with its bold paint scheme!
[About F-15 Eagles of the Tactical Fighter Training Group]
The TFTG was established in 1981 as an aggressor squadron for virtual air combat exercises with other squadrons, and is known as an elite unit with dedicated aircraft and skilled crews. The F-15 Eagles operated there are given a variety of special paint jobs called "identification paint" that differ from the normal F-15s in order to make them easier to identify in the air.
The style of identification paint is all different for each aircraft, ranging from camouflage that mimics the camouflage of fighter planes around the world to geometric paint schemes. In addition, since the unit's F-15s are periodically replaced for equipment maintenance and other reasons, a number of identification paint schemes have appeared so far.
The No. 906's paint scheme is a bold camouflage of dark gray and white.
[About the model]
The F-15 Eagle has been protecting the skies of Japan for nearly 40 years as the main fighter aircraft of the Air Self Defense Force. Among the F-15 Eagles of the JASDF, one of the most powerful is the one belonging to the TFTG.
Platz has started a plan to sequentially model the F-15 Eagles of this flight instructor group, and the second model is already here. This time it's the 906, which was in service from 2003 to 2007. This aircraft was popular for its bold camouflage paint scheme of dark gray and white.
The kit features large format decals made by the well-known Cartograf to recreate the bold coloring. The decals, which even reproduce the blur of the camouflage paint border, are divided to match the fuselage outline and air brakes, aiming for both ease of application and a good finish.
Of course, the fuselage itself has been modeled with precision and realism, from the outlines to the detailed expressions. The paint job is very different from that of the standard F-15, and the Aggressor's unique presence and power can be enjoyed to the fullest in this 1/72 kit.
