This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.
The Finnish manufacturer Sisu developed the xa-180 in 1980; a prototype six-wheel-drive armored personnel carrier was completed in 1982, and has been in use by the Finnish Army since 1983. It can accommodate two crew members and ten troops; it's equipped witht a Valmet 611 in-line six-cylinder liquid-cooled turbocharged diesel engine, with a maximum speed of 95km/h and 236 horsepower. It also has the ability to navigate on water, and is equipped with two propellers so it can travel on water at approximately 10km/h. It's armed with one 12.7mm heavy machine gun NSVT. Many variants have been produced, and are used in a wide variety of missions; some have been deployed to the Finnish United Nations Battalion and are participating in UN peacekeeping situations.
Platz's model kit uses completely newly molded parts made by the Finnish model maker Finmill Model, with new Japanese instructions! The body is reproduced in the upper and lower parts separate; the hatches are made as separate parts on the upper surface for an improved three-dimensional effect, and they can be assembled opened or closed. The driver's seat and steering wheel are carefully duplicated, as is the armor for the front window. The suspension of the leaf spring and the shock absorber are separate parts, and the screw for water navigation installed at the rear is also firmly reproduced. Decals are included for vehicles deployed by the Finnish Defense Forces, vehicles dispatched by the SFOR Peacekeeping Forces, and Finnish field ambulance-type markings with the participation of the United Nations forces.
