The New York-class battleship U.S.S. Texas is the sole surviving dreadnought, and the only remaining U.S. warship that saw active service in World Wars I and II. With ten 14-inch guns, the Texas was the most powerful warship afloat.

Commissioned in March 1914, the Texas was quickly deployed to Mexican waters following the Tampico Affair; it was the first U.S. battleship to be equipped with anti-aircraft guns, and provided fire support in 1918 to Allied supply lines in the North Sea. It was also the first U.S. Navy ship to launch an aircraft.

In 1925, the Texas was extensively modernized and became the flagship of the U.S. fleet. In 1938 and '39, she was fitted with early shipborne radar type CXZ and updated AA guns. Further modifications to radar types CXAM-1, SC-1, SG and SK followed during World War II.

Following Pearl Harbor, the Texas engaged the enemy in the Invasion of North Africa; on D-Day she provided cover for the Normandy landings at Omaha Beach. She was deployed to the Pacific and supported the Allied landings at Iwo Jima and Okinawa in 1944, receiving 5 battle stars.

Donated to the State of Texas in 1948, the Texas became America's first battleship memorial museum. After 40 years berthed in the Houston Ship Channel near the San Jacinto Battleground, she was moved to drydock on Galveston Island in 1988 for urgent rehabilitation to make the hull watertight. The Texas returned to San Jacinto in July 1990 restored to her 1945 condition, and was rededicated on September 8, 1990.

Trumpeter's waterline kit of the USS Texas features 480 parts, and will be approximately 24.6cm long with a width of 4.9cm when completed. Includes decals and photo-etched parts too.
