Pit-Road brings back its model kit of the U.S. Navy's battleship, the BB-56 Washington, as seen in 1942! She was a North Carolina-class battleship that changed its main gun from the original 12 14-inch guns to nine 16-inch guns, to counter the massive Yamato-class battleship of the Japanese Navy. She was put into service in May 1941, immediately after the start of the war between Japan and the United States. She encountered the Japanese fleet near Savo Island with the battleship South Dakota at the Third Solomon Sea Battle in November of 1942, and bombarded the fleet below the battleship Kirishima. Washington fired on the Kirishima and defeated her; after this, she participated in operations in the Philippines, Okinawa, Taiwan, Iwo Jima, and more as a flag bearer of counter-offensive operations. She was dismantled in 1961.
This model kit can be built as a waterline or full-hull version; it reproduces the Washington's appearance in 1942, before her anti-aircraft equipment was strengthened. Order yours today!
