This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.
This 1/700-scale model kit of the Japanese aircraft carrier Zuikaku from Fujimi includes flight deck parts printed with complex camouflage patterns! This kit is based on the Zuikaku's appearance in October 1944 (Operation Sho-Ichi-Go).
Special parts are used to recreate her final appearance, including an additional machine gun turret on the bow and a No. 21 radar. The body is divided into left and right parts; the bottom of the ship and the hull are divided at the waterline, and the bottom of the ship is a single part on the left and right. Delicate carving is used to express the outside electrical wiring all around. The engine room air intake and sponson supports are carved down to the smallest details.
Unlike the standard version, the camouflage paint, which is difficult to apply, is pre-painted on the flight deck, which is a single part with no seams. The elevator and windbreak are separate parts, allowing you to choose between ascending/descending and standing/stowing. Expansion joints, wooden deck, split patterns, and other details are expressed with delicate carving.
Some of the sponsons on the ship's sides are separate parts to ensure accurate reproduction; the chimney is a two-piece structure, with the top and bottom pieces joined together, and the lattice structure of the exhaust port is also a separate part for a sense of depth.
The bow and stern machine gun seats are in their final form with three seats, and are reproduced with separate parts.
The No. 21 radar, a feature of the ship from 1942 onwards, and the rocket launcher, a feature of Operation Sho-Ichi-Go, are available as special parts.
Four types of aircraft are included: Zero Fighter Type 52, Zero Fighter Type 21 (with bombs), Type 97 Carrier Attack Aircraft, and Tenzan. Two Zero Fighters and one each of the others are included.
A masking sheet is included to assist with camouflage painting of the ship's sides. This is a full-hull model requiring glue and paint. Only the camouflage-printed flight deck does not require paint. Order yours today!
