Description

This is a resin or white metal ship model kit.

The German commercial cargo ship Barbara was a rotor ship that moved forward due to the Magnus effect of a rotating cylinder. This was invented by the German aviation pioneer Anton Flettner. The rotor generates electricity with diesel, and rotates it with a motor. She was equipped with a normal screw, and demonstrated a maximum speed of 13 knots. She was sold with the rotor removed in 1933 due to the Great Depression, and sank in 1978.
