This is an injection-plastic jet aircraft model kit.
The EA-18G is an electronic warfare aircraft developed and operated by the U.S. Navy as a successor to the Grumman EA-6B Prowler. It was developed based on the U.S. Navy fighter F/A-18F Super Hornet, and production started in 2007; it was officially put into operation in 2009. It typically carries two crew members: the WSO (Weapon System Officer) will be seated in the seat behind the pilot. The AN/ALQ-99 Tactical Jammer (TJS) pod, the AN/ALQ-218(V)2 radio frequency receiving system, and the AN/ALQ-227 communications countermeasures set are installed as electronic warfare equipment. It carries two General Electric F414-GE-400 turbofan engines, and demonstrates a maximum speed close to Mach 1.8. Armed with this equipment, the Growler counters enemy air defense (SEAD) aircraft. The U.S. Navy electronic warfare unit VAQ-131 Lancers deployed at Misawa Air Base in Japan uses Growlers; their aircraft carry a cavalry mask on the tail, and their squadron mark features a spear.
This 1/48-scale model kit of the EA-18G Growler is a collaboration between Platz and Italeri; it accurately models the Growler's characteristic form in a size with great presence. In addition to the easy-to-assemble parts figuration unique to Italeri kits, Platz provides an instruction manual in Japanese. Convenient masking seals are included for painting the canopy frame, and decals for the CAG machine of the VAQ-131 Lancers deployed at Misawa Base in Japan are included. Order yours today!
