The U-2 is a high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft based on the F-104 and developed by Lockheed's top-secret development division, Skunk Works. Capable of flying in the stratosphere at altitudes of over 20,000 meters, it was used to gather intelligence on the former Soviet Union and Cuba during the Cold War.
