The Grunau Baby is a high-wing, single-leaf, single-seat glider designed by Edmund Schneider and manufactured in Germany in 1931.
The Baby underwent a major redesign in 1932 to become the Baby II, which was followed by the definitive version, the Baby IIB.
The Baby IIB was adopted as the standard training glider of the German Air Sports Association, and just before the war was used for flight training by the National Socialist Air Corps, a German paramilitary organization.
It is said that a total of about 6,000 Grunau Babies were manufactured in the series before, during, and after the war.
