Description
This is an injection-plastic aircraft model kit.
The cockpit interior, landing gear surroundings, air intakes, and exhaust pipes are realistically reproduced, and you can choose to assemble the main wings either extended or folded. This product features new mold parts (cockpit interior, ejection seat, canopy, exhaust, pylons, and drop tanks) to accurately represent the production model A2D-1. The kit includes etched parts and four types of decals.
The A2D Skyshark is a turboprop carrier-based attack aircraft developed by Douglas for the U.S. Navy. The prototype XA2D, which first flew in 1950, utilized parts such as the tail from the A-1 Skyraider, but the fuselage and main wings were redesigned due to engine replacement and other changes. Although over 300 units were ordered due to significant performance improvements compared to the A-1, the complexity of the design and reliability issues with the engine led the Navy to cancel the order in 1952, and it never went into practical use. Only 2 prototypes of the XA2D-1 and 10 production models of the A2D-1 were produced.
