This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.

The PG Hayabusa Class is a guided missile patrol boat developed as a replacement to the PG 1-go class. The PG 1-go class, which was the first missile boat of the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force, had several defects because of its peculiar hull shape. Moreover, the threat of foreign spy boats was getting serious making it urgent to develop high-speed crafts. Against such, they planned the Hayabusa class. The displacement of its hull is four times larger than that of the PG 1-go class. And its sharp outlook in consideration of the stealth effect was designed out of the simulation calculation of Radar cross-section. Six Hayabusa class boats were built, and two are deployed in each of three bases, Ominato, Maizuru, and Sasebo. The 4th boat KUMATAKA was completed in March 2003. She and the 2nd WAKATAKA make up the Patrol Guided Missile Boat Division 1 at JMSDF Ominato District.
