Description

This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.

The German Tiger I tank showed the power to overwhelm the Allied and Soviet troops. Production began in 1942, and when assigned to heavy tank battalions, it made a big impression on the North African Campaign and the Eastern Front. The type produced between 1943 and 1944 is known as the mid-term production type. Zimmerit coating began to be used during that time to prevent magnetic land mines; it later became a standard specification. Many Tiger crew members became aces during World War II; among them was Otto Carius. He was said to have defeated more than 150 enemy tanks; he and his companion Albert Kerscher took part in the Battle of Marinerfa in Latvia on July 22, 1944, and defeated 17 enemy tanks between them.

This model kit from Dragon features parts for the Zimmerit coating, as well as an old-style flat shield on the main gun (one of the identifying features of Otto Carius's Tiger I). The welding marks on the turret mount is carefully reproduced, as are all the details of the suspension. Magic Tracks are provided for a realistic finish, and photo-etched parts are included for the mesh of the engine deck; decals are included for Otto Carius's tank numbered 217. Order yours now!
