Railroads were used in various ways in World War II as a means of transportation to maintain the front line. Freight cars of various sizes and shapes were mass-produced and used to transport supplies and troops. The partisans and Allies never missed an opportunity to cut off the German Army's supplies by attacking their rail network with aircraft or via sabotage.
