The Panzer IV continued to play an active role as one of the main battle tanks for the German Army in World War II. Improvements continued throughout the war, improving its defense, offensive power, runnability, etc., and it gained a high level of trust from German soldiers. The Panzer IV was also made in various variations; masterpiece vehicles derived from the Panzer IV included tank destroyers, assault guns equipped with large guns and fixed battle rooms, and various self-propelled guns with anti-aircraft guns and open-top battle rooms. Among them, a self-propelled gun equipped with an 8.8cm gun was developed; this masterpiece anti-tank gun was greatly feared by the Allies. Unfortunately, only a limited number of prototypes were completed, but the 8.8cm gun demonstrated its power when it was installed as the main gun on Tiger tanks.

This model kit from Dragon brings us the Panzer IV H type modified to carry a 8.8cm Flak 36, which is said to have been made only as prototypes. Like the actual vehicle, it's composed of a combination of Panzer IV H type parts and an 8.8cm anti-aircraft gun. For the body, the turret of the IV H type hull is removed, and the platform for mounting the gun and turret parts are added. The detail is expressed down to the bolts. The driver's hatch, communication hand hatch, and rear engine hatch can all be assembled either opened or closed; a mechanically finished 8.8cm gun is modeled in the center of the hull. The barrel, breech, operation handle and base mount are all fully reproduced. The lower part of the hull is slide-molded for an accurate shape and details, and Magic Tracks are included for a realistic finish. Place your order today!
