Description
This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.
DUKW is an amphibious vehicle developed in the United States.
The DUKW shares the same engine and drive system as the CCKW 353 truck, and has a boat-shaped body with a 3-axle, 6-wheel undercarriage and a screw propeller at the rear of the body for water navigation.
Capable of traveling at speeds of up to 80 km/h on the road and 10 km/h on the water, it could carry 25 men or 2.5 tons of cargo on its bed and 50 men or 5 tons of cargo on the water.
The DUKW, which had such high seaworthiness that it could cross the English Channel unassisted, was used in the Normandy landings and during the Pacific War.
After the war, the DUKW continued to be used in the Korean War, and some of the vehicles provided to the Allied nations remained in service until the 1980s.
After the war, the vehicles were sold to the private sector and were used by firefighting organizations and coast guards for disaster relief.
