After the end of World War II, Western countries witnessed the Soviet Union's new heavy tank, the IS-3, and were shocked by its sharp silhouette and huge guns. In the United Kingdom, there was widespread concern that the Centurion, which was the main tank at the time, would not be able to break through the armor of this tank, and urgent development of a new heavy tank was required to counter the IS-3. Therefore, the United Kingdom decided to resist the IS-3 by developing the heavy tank FV201, which had had its development plan frozen, but a new problem then presented itself: it was assumed that a large-diameter turret would weight more than 60 tons on the body of the FV201, but the UK had little experience in operating tanks of this weight, so they made a test vehicle to collect data. The test vehicle equipped with a 20-pound tank gun (and the Centurion's turret) based on the body of the FV201 was called FV221 Carnervon, and about ten of it were produced. It was used in various locations, and played a major role in the development of the FV214 Conqueror. Order yours today!
