This is an injection-plastic jet aircraft model kit.
The EA-6B Prowler is an electronic warfare aircraft based on the carrier-based attack aircraft A-6 Intruder. The aircraft was extended to accommodate four people -- a pilot and three electronic warfare personnel. In addition, it was equipped with various electronic devices to perform a wide range of electronic warfare missions, such as disabling surface-to-air missile guidance radar, electronic interference, and collecting radio wave information from enemies. Mass production began in 1969, and it was deployed starting in 1971. In addition to being deployed on U.S. Navy aircraft carriers, it is also used by the Marine Corps. It participated in the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, the Iraq War, etc., and showed a wide range of activities. 170 of this aircraft were manufactured until production ended in 1991. Its activities ceased in 2019 after the development of its successor, the EA-18G, progressed.
This model kit from Platz features parts made by Dragon, famed for their sharp finish; parts for two aircraft are included. The unique nose shape with four seats is accurately reproduced, and the cockpit interior and landing gear are also realistic. In addition to jamming pod parts, missiles are also modeled under the wings. Decals by Cartograf are included for the VAQ-136 Gantrez and VAQ-137 aircraft that were deployed at the Atsugi base in Japan, including the Nissho flag style tail wing markings that were applied for a long time in the early 2000s.
