Description

This is an injection-plastic jet aircraft model kit.

The F-2 fighter has been in operation since 2000, and is playing an active role as the main fighter of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. Development started in 1988 as a successor to the F-1 support fighter. Based on the American masterpiece fighter F-16, the development work was carried out jointly by Japan and the United States in consideration of the operations as a JASDF-operated aircraft and the geographical factors of Japan. In addition to increasing the wing area with the aim of improving maneuverability, other elements were added to improve its performance and develop it as a unique aircraft tailored to Japan, such as reducing its weight by using advanced materials and structures. It's equipped with an active phased array radar, which enables long-range air-to-ship missiles and ASM to be installed and operated, as well as air-to-air radar missiles and air-to-air infrared missiles. It was first deployed to the 3rd Squadron at Misawa Air Base, and also to the 6th and 8th Squadrons at Tsuiki Air Base, demonstrating its capabilities in Japan's air defense missions.

This model kit from Platz reproduces the single-seat F-2A; easy-to-assemble parts by F-Toys are included to build two aircraft. The aircraft's shape is realistically reproduced, and the finish is delicate, with detailed panel lines. Decals by Cartograf are included to mark it as the 513th machine in special paint that appeared at the Misawa Air Base festival on September 8, after the 3rd Squadron decided to leave Misawa and move to Hyakuri in 2019. Two versions of the aircraft's normal 3rd Squadron markings are included, too. Place your order today!
