About the Aircraft:

The F-35A Lightning II is the fifth-generation multirole fighter jointly developed internationally, mainly by Lockheed Martin. It has been deployed by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force as a replacement for the F-4 and F-15 fighters. The F-35A variant, designed for the Air Force, is equipped with a single Pratt & Whitney F135 turbofan engine and features a stealthy design with an internal weapons bay to house missiles and other armaments. It also has six hardpoints under the wings. The F-35 began operations in 2016 and was deployed by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force starting in 2018, serving as its latest main fighter.

About the Model:

This 1/144 scale plastic model kit recreates the F-35A Lightning II now deployed and operated by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. The kit, which includes parts from F-toys, comes with enough components for two planes. The set features markings to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 301st Squadron, which was the first to be equipped with the F-35A in 2020, following the relocation from Hyakuri Base to Misawa Base. The 301st Squadron's iconic frog logo, derived from Ibaraki's Tsukuba Mountain "Gama Oil Seller," symbolizes a safe return and is widely recognized. The model also includes standard markings for the 301st Squadron and the 302nd Squadron.
