Originally released back in April 2001, the GX-05 Soul of Chogokin Daiku Maryu Gaiking box set was very well received by Gaiking fans who for decades had craved an accurate modern diecast toy of the popular golden horned robot and its dragon-shaped ship. Three years after the release of that now-discontinued GX-05 set, Bandai has good news for those who missed out on that release, and for those too who want still more: rather than simply reissue the original set, Bandai has produced a new set, giving Gaiking, Daiku Maryu, and accompanying accessories an improved metallic paint scheme!

The diecast articulated Gaiking figure comes in three parts that can be combined, as seen in the anime series, to form our beloved "horny" super robot! Gaiking comes with an optional open face head along with bigger interchangeable lower arms, lower legs, and horns for a more stronger-looking Gaiking. Unlike the first GX-05 box set, this repainted version of Gaiking has its upper arms and thighs unpainted so you get to see its shiny diecast metal goodness!

Bandai certainly did an amazing job realizing Daiku Maryu in beautiful diecast metal glory that's not only accurately detailed, it also features various cool gimmicks as seen in the show! Daiku Maryu is able to change into its "Volution Protect" form for full defense and comes with full-fledged offensive weapons such as the Big Horns, Giant Cutter, Hawk Eye, and Missile Drill. Its body can be opened to reveal the launch pads for Gaiking Part 2 and 3. A storage base is included for storing all of Daiku Maryu's and Gaiking's weapons and accessories. Completing the set are the Daiku Maryu Sentai consisting of Nessaa, Skyraa, and Bazoraa for assisting Gaiking's battles against the invading aliens!
