Pullip Merl wears her distinctive sailor-suit outfit for a very good reason! It seems there's a magical island known only to children known as Mango Island, famed the world over for its whispering song. You can't hear that song once you've become an adult, and the only way to get to Mango Island is to wear a certain kind of magical sailor outfit--and Merl's costume is a perfect example of this mysterious mode of transportation! It's regal in navy blue and ivory, with a sash trimmed with tricolor ribbon bows, a pleated and lace-trimmed petticoat beneath, striped stockings and sturdy boots.  Merl's golden-chestnut hair tumbles nearly to the floor; it's worth noting that her bangs are cut pretty much straight across, too, rather than as shown in the prototype photos. She also has a headdress and a white bow to wear in her hair. She's smiliing bravely, ready to make her magical journey--would you like to come along too?
