The Japan Ground Self-Defense Force's multipurpose vehicle, the Type 73 Light Truck, fully demonstrates its versatility and mobility, from rear support to the front lines of battle. It has long been the primary equipment of division reconnaissance units, and has been seen equipped with a 12.7mm M2 (50 caliber) heavy machine gun for surveillance during reconnaissance missions. 

This model kit from Fine Molds recreates the 12.7mm M2 heavy machine gun down to its base. In addition, it also comes with a Type 69 vehicle radio, modeled after the actual machine gun. Marking decals recreate vehicles belonging to the 10th Reconnaissance Unit at Camp Kasugai, the 3rd Reconnaissance Unit at Camp Senzo, and the 34th Infantry Regiment at Camp Itazuma. Also included is a variation of a vehicle with an unknown affiliation, sporting a striking two-tone camouflage pattern.
