This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.
The Type 73 light truck is a domestically produced, compact, general-purpose vehicle that continued to be used by Japan's Ground, Maritime, and Air Self-Defense Forces. It was officially adopted by the former Defense Agency and the Self-Defense Forces in 1973 (Showa 48), and was a renowned vehicle that saw service for nearly a quarter of a century until it was replaced by a new 1/2-ton truck in 1996 (Heisei 8). One of the vehicle's notable features was the numerous derivative models produced to accommodate its versatility.
This model kit from Fine Molds recreates an early model that was used for a long period of time, from the Type 73 light truck, the specifications of which varied slightly depending on the year of manufacture. The canvas hood features a soft mold that has been hand-finished. Decals are included for vehicles belonging to the 3rd Tank Battalion Headquarters in Imazu, the 1st Airborne Brigade in Narashino, the Fuji Training Brigade Headquarters, and the 10th Artillery Regiment in Toyokawa, as well as individual number decals for license plates.
