This is an injection-plastic jet aircraft model kit.
The Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) held unit-wide combat competitions to improve the skills of not only fighter pilots but also air traffic controllers and other personnel. In the 1980s, as inter-aircraft aerial combat training with the F-4EJ became more active, many F-104s appeared sporting special paint schemes that went beyond standard camouflage, and their distinctive appearance captured the hearts of aviation enthusiasts.
This model kit from Fine Molds includes markings to recreate the 202nd Squadron, which participated in the 1980 combat competition, and the 207th Squadron, which took part in the 1984 competition. The 202nd Squadron's aircraft in particular stand out with their unique paint scheme, similar to the maritime camouflage that would later be adopted on the F-2. Using a completely new mold, the fuselage features a split design that follows the panel lines. Aimed at ease of assembly and a precise finish, this kit features a unique design. The razor-sharp wings and air intakes are molded as thin as possible to recreate the look of the actual aircraft. Place your order today!
