This is an injection-plastic jet aircraft model kit.
The F-14 Tomcat is a two-seat supersonic twin-engine jet carrier-based fighter aircraft deployed by the U.S. Navy on aircraft carriers in 1974. Its most distinctive features are its unique fuselage shape for generating lift and variable-gear wings (VG wings) that can be adjusted to suit flight conditions. As the main carrier-based fighter, it was capable of air superiority, fleet air defense, and interception missions, as well as tactical reconnaissance when equipped with a reconnaissance pod. This renowned aircraft protected the U.S. Navy's skies in a wide range of missions until the entire fleet was retired in September 2006.
This model kit from Fine Molds meticulously recreates the elegant lines of the aircraft, down to the smallest details. Additionally, each external inspection door can be displayed in either open or closed position, and the interiors are meticulously recreated too. Markings are available for two versions: the popular U.S. Navy Fighter Squadron 84 (VF-84) "Jolly Rogers," know for its skull-and-crossbones emblem, and the U.S. Navy Fighter Squadron 111 (VF-111) "Sundowners," featuring a striking tail design depicting a setting sun.
