This is an injection-plastic aircraft model kit.
This 1/48-scale model kit from Dora Wings is a Japan exclusive: the DHC-2 "Showa" aircraft used aboard the Antarctic Research Vessel Soya! The DHC-2 was an STOL aircraft that first flew in 1947 and was produced for about 20 years, with nearly 1,700 made. In Japan, it was operated by several airlines, and the Antarctic Research Expedition also used one aboard the Antarctic Research Vessel Soya between the second and fifth observations, nicknamed "Showa." This aircraft was used to withdraw the first team members staying at Showa Station during the second wintering party dispatch in February 1958. This limited-edition model kit comes with three types of landing gear (wheels, skis, and floats), plus photo-etched parts, paint mask stickers, and decals for three versions: Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition "Showa," the Australian National Antarctic Research Expedition, and the Ontario Provincial Air Service in Canada.
