The FD3S -- the third generation of the RX-7 -- made its debut in October 1991. True to its mission, it underwent continuous evolution, eventually reaching a pinnacle of perfection as the world's only rotary-powered sports car -- a source of national pride.

Cherished for a remarkable 11 years and having truly stood the test of time on the road, production of the FD3S was ultimately scheduled to end in August 2002, due in part to the impact of the Heisei 12 (Year 2000) exhaust gas regulations. Prior to the conclusion of its production run, the final special limited-edition model, the RX-7 Spirit R, was released in April 2002.
