HobbyLink Japan will hold a special plastic model contest!
This contest will be judged based on submitted photos of your work.
The first theme is “Maschinen Krieger,” a popular series of Sci-Fi model kits.
Entries will be judged by industry experts, with awesome prizes available!

Contest Outline

  • ⚫︎ Acceptance Period: Monday, June 27th - Sunday, August 24, 2025
  • ⚫︎ Eligibility: Customers of HobbyLink Japan from any region who have purchased 'Maschinen Krieger' products in 2024-2025.
    (※Entries do not have to be kits purchased during this period.
  • ⚫︎ Results: After the end of judging to be announced on or after Thursday, September 11, 19:00, winners will be contacted directly!
  • ⚫︎ Judges: Creator of Maschinen Krieger, Kō YokoyamaMAX WatanabeKaiyodo's Miyawaki SenmuMaki SedoKaiyodoWAVEHasegawa and members of the HLJ Staff
  • ⚫︎ Submissions: Please submit entries that primarily use plastic models from the “Ma.K.” (Maschinen Krieger) series.
    ※The model must be a “plastic model” of the “Maschinen Krieger” series.

    ・Entry does not have to be a kit purchased at HLJ.
    ・Single pieces or works featuring scenes are acceptable.
    ・Entries that have already been published on social networking sites are acceptable, as are entries that have been previously entered in other contests, but entries that have won prizes are not acceptable.

    ※You may add up to three additional photos that clearly show the production in progress and its appealing points.
    Excessive photo editing, such as deforming shapes or adding effects, is not allowed.

Judge Profiles

横山宏先生

Kō Yokoyama

Illustrator/modeler/sculptor.
His masterpiece Maschinen Krieger (formerly known as SF3D) established the “photo story” method of expression with its unique world view and outstanding modeling technique.
His creations which encompass both illustration and three-dimensional modeling, continues to attract fans in Japan and across the world.
He is a leading figure in the modeling world, working across the boundaries of modeling, science fiction, and fine art.

MAX渡辺さん

MAX Watanabe

A top professional modeler and a leading expert in unique painting techniques, such as “MAX Painting” and "Copic Painting"
He has also devoted himself to popularizing models and has authored numerous production guides. He also leads the model industry as a representative of Max Factory and president of WAVE since 2024.

宮脇センム

Senmu Miyawaki

The son of Osamu Miyawaki, the founder of Kaiyodo and a central figure in changing Kaiyodo from a retailer to a modeling company. He served as chairman of the executive committee of the Wonder Festival, one of the world's largest plastic arts events, and has made a major contribution to the development of Japan's garage kit culture.
He is one of the leading collectors with over 40,000 models in his collection.

背戸真樹さん

Maki Sedo

A renowned prototype artist.
He has created many prototypes for the “Maschinen Krieger” series and is one of the leading figures who have embodied the world of the series in three-dimensional form.
He continues to support the series with his delicate and unique style, and is an integral part of the Maschinen Krieger story.

Starting with model retailing, the company developed the industry's first injection kit.
Today, as a popular manufacturer, the company offers not only plastic models and figures, but also a wide range of tools and storage supplies necessary for production.

An iconic manufacturer that boasts the world's leading modeling technology.
They have cooperated in modeling for 'Jurassic Park' and museum exhibits, and are an influential company both domestically and internationally.

Hasegawa

The company was formerly known as Hasegawa Seisakusho, a wooden model manufacturer, and currently produces scale models, character models, and model trains.
An F-104 is displayed on the roof of the headquarters and a T-3 in front of the entrance.
