This is a train model which is meant to be operated on standard model railroad sets.

This limited express sleeping car train appeared at the opening of the Seika Tunnel in 1988, and gained popularity as a luxurious train featuring both single room sleepers and a dining car that connected Sapporo to Ueno.

It had been active for 28 years, but after the regular opening of the Hokkaido express in preparation for the opening of the Hokkaido Shinkansen in March 2015, it changed to temporary operation until August.
