The first Bentley Continental GT was introduced in 2003.
It was the first completely newly developed car launched since Bentley joined the Volkswagen Group in 1998.
The large coupe body was powered by Volkswagen's 6-liter W-12 twin-turbo engine, and the car's four-wheel drive became its identity.
Priced in the mid 20 million yen range, it was a luxury car with all the luxuries of a luxury car and had an image of being unrelated to motorsports, but for the second generation, a homologation model, the Continental GT3, was introduced to meet the GT3 regulations set by the FIA.
The Continental GT3 is a major modification to the production car, reducing its weight from over 2 tons to nearly 1 ton, and changing its drive system from the production car's 4-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive.
Hot Wheels used the GT3 version of the third-generation Continental GT, which was introduced in 2017, as its motif.
