In 1989, Honda's new NSX was introduced, bringing together the latest technologies of the company at the time. The vehicle became a symbol, with its innovative all-aluminum monocoque body structure being the first of its kind in a mass-production car, which attracted widespread attention. It featured a 3-liter V6 engine-considered a large displacement for a Japanese car at the time-mounted near the center of the chassis, with two seats. The low, wide, and sleek form, coupled with retractable headlights, gave it the appearance of a true supercar, earning it much popularity.
Additionally, during its development, the legendary F1 driver Ayrton Senna, known for his charismatic and remarkable speed, was involved in testing the car. His influence played a significant role in its handling, which far exceeded the standard for Japanese cars at the time, garnering high praise for the vehicle's performance.
This Hot Wheels model represents the American version of the NSX (where Honda's premium models were sold under the Acura brand). The design was handled by the late Ryu Asada, a Japanese Hot Wheels designer and a passionate Honda fan who even owned an NSX of the same model. Asada successfully condensed the real-life charm of the car into this 3-inch model, making it a noteworthy piece.
