The introduction of the Leopard 2 main battle tank (MBT) into the Bundeswehr armored forces in 1980 was an extremely difficult task.
This book describes the various problems that occurred with the early Leopard 2 A0 and A1 tanks and how they overcame them, and shows the tanks undergoing a severe "baptism of fire" as they participated in three military exercises held in 1984, 1985, and 1986.
Other vehicles equipped by the Bundeswehr and allied forces are also included.
