This is a pencil with a replaceable and mechanically extendable core.

This amazingly designed mechanical pencil features a two-part system to prevent the lead from breaking while you're writing!  A spring in the barrel of the pencil allows the lead to move back into the pencil with too much vertical pressure; too much sideways pressure will trigger another spring to automatically extend the lead guard.  

And this pencil even has a high-tech eraser that will automatically extend from the top cap when the pencil is turned upside down, and then locks into place for use; it will retract when the pencil is turned right side up again.

A rubber grip for comfortable writing and a roll stop make it extra convenient, and it comes with two replacement erasers, too.  Shiny silver in color, and comes with an 0.5mm lead.
