The P-51 Mustang is a reciprocating single-engine single-seat fighter developed by the United States for the U.S. Air Force, often described as the best fighter aircraft of World War II. The initial production type equipped with the Allison engine lacked high-altitude performance, but the B/C type, which carried an engine by Marlin, overwhelmed the same-generation aircraft in terms of speed, high-altitude performance, and cruising range. The D type adopted a bubble canopy to solve the poor rear visibility. The K type was equipped with a machined aluminum propeller manufactured by Aero Products.
