This Aircraft Model Special No.43 includes a feature on the European Jet Fighter and the Postwar History of European JET Fighter!
After the end of World War II, the Cold War between the U.S. and the Soviet Union began, and in the midst of the chaos, European countries took their own stances in rebuilding their nations and preparing for national defense.
Among them, the United Kingdom, France, and Sweden in Scandinavia, which are regarded as major powers, insisted on developing their own fighter aircraft and produced fighter planes that suited their own tactics, economic power, and national characteristics.
For this reason, many of their aircraft, such as tailless delta-wing aircraft, canard-wing-equipped aircraft, and small, lightweight fighters, have a strong individuality that is different from that of the U.S. and Soviet Union.
In Aircraft Model Special No.43, we look back at the history of fighter planes from various European countries, with a focus on the aircraft of the French and Swedish air forces, along with many examples of their production.
