This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.
Steamboats were used for transportation of passengers and cargo over rivers and lakes for a lengthy period in the U.S. Many used rotating paddles attached to the outer side of the hull, known as the outer ring. The Robert Fulton steamboat was mainly operated on the Hudson River. Also known as the North Reverse Steam Boat, this particular ship was first built in 1807. It was about 43 meters long, and equipped with a 19-horsepower steam engine which gave it a cruising speed of about 5 miles per hour.
This kit features a shallow draft unique to river boats, realistically reproducing the almost flat shape of the hull. The steam engine and paddle wheels on both sides are realistically modelled, with woodgrain texture used throughout. Rigging thread for the mast are also included, as are six passenger figures, and a display stand too. Also includes instructions in English, German, French and Spanish.
