Chiyonofuji, the last yokozuna of the Showa era, is one of the most popular sumo wrestlers in history, and his nickname "Wolf" became familiar for his skill, speed, and fearlessness. This figure from Bellfine presents a bronze-statue-style sculpt of this iconic wrestler! His real name was Mitsugu Akimoto; he was born June 1, 1955. He was born in Fukushima-cho, Matsumae-gun, Hokkaido. He won his first victory in January 1981 and was promoted to Ozeki; he became the 58th yokozuna at the same time he won his second victory that same year. In November 1988, he recorded 53 consecutive victories, and in September 1989, he surpassed Oshiseki's record of 964 wins by achieving 965 wins; he won the National Honor Award that year. He retired in May 1991, and was named the Jinmaku that same year. In 1992, he took over the name of the elderly Kuji and inherited the Kokonoe stable.
