This is a wooden model kit of a building or other structure.
Yoshimitsu Ashikaga, the third shogun of the Muromachi era (1336-1573), built a villa in Kitayama, Kyoto in 1397 at Rokuon-ji Temple. It featured vast gardens with trees and ponds, and the gorgeous building with its outer walls covered in gold leaf known as Kinkaku. The Kinkaku is made up of three layers, with the uppermost layer a Zen Buddhist temple, and the lower layer is built like a house. The current Kinkaku was rebuilt in 1955.
Woody Joe's 1/75-scale version of one of the most famous buildings in Japan has been improved with a laser-processed roof structure and a frame method of construction; its white wood finish makes it easy to assemble. The assembly instructions are in Japanese, yet feature full-color illustrations. The manufacturer estimates this beautiful kit will take about 45 hours to assemble. Add this iconic Japanese temple to your own collection today!
