This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.
One of the four-wheel-drive light armored reconnaissance vehicles developed and operated by the U.S. military in World War II is the M3A1 scout car. Development began in 1937 at the White Motor Company in the United States, and in 1938 the M3 scout car was formalized as the first type. Improvements were made thereafter, and production of the M3A1 began in 1940. The chassis is truck-based and equipped with a full-time four-wheel-drive four-speed manual transmission. The car body consist of surface-hardened armor with a thickness ranging from 6.4mm to 13mm. It could accommodate up to seven infantrymen. It was armed with a scale rail around the body, equipped with one 50-caliber M2 heavy machine gun in the center of the front, and two 30-caliber machine guns in the rear. More than 20,000 of this vehicle were produced until 1944. Its design had a great influence on the development of the M3 half-track; after its first battle in the Philippines in 1941, it was used by U.S. cavalry units on the North African front and the invasion of Sicily, and was active until the end of the war.
This model kit from Italeri of the M3A1 scout car includes an underside with a detailed reproduction of the four-wheel-drive drive shaft, as well as the front and rear leaf spring suspensions. The left and right doors are separate parts for a high level of detail; an axe and jerrycan are included that can be attached to the vehicle. A canvas cover for the cargo area is also included, and the car can be assembled with or without it. Two types of machine guns, one driver figure and a standing figure are also included, as are decals for three versions: French, Soviet and American. Order yours today!
