This is an injection-plastic aircraft model kit.
The Dornier Do335A was a fighter aircraft developed by Germany during World War II. It was equipped with a liquid-cooled V-type 12-cylinder engine that produced 1800 horsepower at the front and rear of the aircraft. It had propellers in the front and rear, and a cross-shaped tail. It was armed with one 30mm cannon and two 20mm cannons on the nose. The prototype had its first flight in October 1943, and the mass-produced version was completed in September 1944. Due to the worsening situation, production did not progress, and the number of this aircraft completed was very small. It was hoped that it would play an important role in air defense battles against the Allied onslaught, but the war ended before it was able to take part in battle.
The plastic parts of this kit were made by Dragon, accurately modeling this unique twin-engine aircraft in 1/72 scale. The kit can be built as the mass-produced Do335A daytime fighter type, or the engine-enhanced Do335A-1. The front and main landing gear and interior details for the landing gear compartments are highly realistic; the cockpit features seats and instrument panels. Photo-etched parts are included, as are decals for three versions, one of them the restored version on display at the Smithsonian. Order yours now!
